If you've recently been in a car accident or have experienced a situation that has left you with whiplash you might be wondering what you can do to relieve your pain and obtain your range of motion back.

Optimal Health & Wellness Center sees many patients who have experienced an injury and are looking to get back to activity. Whiplash is another way of saying "neck strain," which means that a blow (more often than not from a car accident) or instance of impact causes the head to jerk in one direction or another. This sudden, excessive force can stretch and tear your neck's muscles and tendons.

1.) Pain Management

Our chiropractic treatment center is geared toward holistic, drug-free services. If you're experiencing excessive pain sometimes medication is an attractive option. We usually recommend rest, which can be especially helpful during your first 24 hours after you've experienced your injury.  After this one-day window, you don't want to give yourself excessive bed rest because this could delay your recovery.

2.) Hot or Cold Thereapy

Hot or cold temperatures applied to the region of pain for 15 minutes can help relieve pain. Do this no more than 6 times a day when you're experiencing whiplash.

3.) Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a form of physical therapy that will address areas of strain or tension. We can help increase your range of motion, and chiropractic care has been shown to provide pain relief and help speed recovery.

If you have any questions about how we can treat your whiplash or neck strain, contact Optimal Health & Wellness Center today. We'll get you back to your daily activities in no time!
